Romney will not lead the GOP in 2012

Despite what CNN may tell you, Mitt Romney will not lead the GOP.  Why?  Because the Republican Party is now the party for southern, white, elderly, Christians (and certain acceptable Jews for them like Joe Lieberman, sometimes.  Except he's a bit too "liberal" for them despite supporting Iraq and wanting to ban all violence from TV).

So, Mitt is rich, he's white, he's not young.  But he's not Southern.  That can probably be overcome, but his biggest problem is that he's not a Christian, he's a Mormon.  Now, to me, its all the same thing.  Jesus, Mohammamed, Yahweh, Brigham Young, whatever.  Same roots, same underlying religion.  But not to Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal.  Mitt might as well be a Buddhist monk to them.  And the same applies to the Republican Party's constituents, who are now mostly southern, white, elderly, Christians.

So long Mitt!

Joe Biden - Not a millionaire

Joe Biden only owns one house, in the Wilmington, DE area.  He commutes to work daily on the Amtrak, 1.5 hours each way to Washington, DC.  

He makes under $200,000 per year, most of which is his senate salary.  His net-worth is somewhere around $150,000.

If McCain picks Mitt Romney... Romney is likely worth half a billion dollars.  That won't play out well.

Mitt Romney: The Key to President Obama

We will likely know late next week if John McCain will tap Mitt Romney to be his vice president.  That choice would likely be the biggest boost to Obama.

Mitt Romney is known by many as "multiple choice Mitt."  He was the governor of one of the (if not THE) most liberal states in the nation, he was pro-choice until 2 years ago, and he's worth double the money of Cindy McCain.  

He also tried to buy himself an election, and failed.  All Mitt will do is add another 5% to McCain's vote total in Utah.  

Religion in the news

Religion is like drugs.  It's OK to dabble in it a bit, but if you devote your life to it, the end result is not pretty.  Case in point: a 16 year old girl with 4 kids, pregnant 13-14 year olds, and a bunch of Mormons in a compound in TX.  Its a good thing Mitt Romney dropped out of the race, this would not have been good for him.  I know, I know, the Mormons officially disavow this shit, but still, it is their heritage.  

In other religious news, the head of another group who has been known to abuse children and the only head of a religious order who is a former Hitler Youth is visiting America.  

As Bill Maher said, "Cults get raided.  Religions get parades."
